Short History

Eddie Hughson, with Marian and Laurence Watkins set up Keltic Seafare in its present form in 1993 with the idea of selling the best scallops to London's top restaurants, and that still remains our core business. Starting with only 2 customers, our reputation steadily grew, and business expanded until we were able to purchase the present factory. Tragically Eddie died on 2003 and his two children Alasdair and Ailsa have now joined the Company.

Until 1999, an agent based in London handled sales and deliveries - now all operations have been centralised in Dingwall. We currently have over 100 customers in the capital, and export mainly to France. We also now sell langoustine throughout the year, together with local (seasonal) wild mushrooms. The Company is widely regarded as the UK number one leader in live scallops, and has an enviable reputation for both products and service.

In 2004 Keltic were awarded the Highlands and Islands Small Business of the Year, proof of the hard work and commitment involved in building the company to its present form. See us in operation on the DVD link on the Testimonials / Awards page.
