Seafood has been enjoyed by humans since way before written history. We know this from early cave drawings. Humans used bird beaks and spears carved with wood and stone to fish back then. Luckily we have much more efficient methods these days!

Scallops lined up along the seabedPeople in countries all over the world fish in dozens of different ways in modern times. Sustainability is a concern in todays fishing community. The sustainable seafood movement began in the1990s. This is when sustainable fishing was first promoted.

Sustainable seafood, is seafood that is either caught or farmed in ways that consider the long-term vitality of harvested species, the well-being of the oceans and the livelihoods of fisheries-dependent communities.

Besides being super tasty, eating fish and shellfish has major health benefits! So buy, cook, eat and enjoy seafood all this October and make Fish the Dish!
